There are about 70 national parks and 440 wildlife sanctuaries. India has surely become a paradise for the people of love nature. The Indian heritage of wildlife is both unique and mysterious. Among the vast variety of wildlife, the few of the top destinations to visit for wildlife are as follows.

 

Bandhavgarh National Park

It is one the most popular national parks of India and is located in the Umaria district of Madhya Pradesh. After remaining a private game reserve of Baghela rulers, in 1968, Bandhavgarh was declared as a national park. It is world famous for its tiger reserve and is, therefore, a popular for tiger sighting. Safari is very famous here. Elephant rides here are a little famous as it is quite expensive. People prefer jeep safari more. There are three zones here where the safari is done— Tala zone, Magadhi zone and Khitauli zone.

 

Sunderbans National Park

A national park, a tiger reserve and also a biosphere reserve— Sunderbans is located in West Bengal. Covered with mangrove forest is this largest reserve for the Bengal tigers. It was declared as a Tiger Reserve in 1973, a Wildlife Sanctuary in 1977 and a National Park in 1984. The best time to visit Sunderbans is during December- February. It is a part of the world’s largest delta that is formed by Ganges, Brahmaputra and Meghna.

 

Kaziranga National Park

The world’s heritage site, Kaziranga National Park is home to the world’s great one-horned rhinoceros. It is also a tiger reserve but sighting them is quite difficult due to tall grasses. The park also has a large breeding variety of elephants, wild water buffalo and swamp deer. Kaziranga is located between two districts of Assam— the Kaliabor subdivision of Nagaon and Bokakhat subdivision of Golaghat. The best season to visit is during July-August.

 

Kanha National Park

Another tiger reserve and the largest national park in Madhya Pradesh is Kanha National Park. It has been ranked in the top 10 Famous Places for Tourists. The national park not only aimed to achieve the preservation of tigers but also the hardground Swamp Deer. The park has an attraction within, which is called the BamniDadar, also known as the sunset point. The best time to visit is during the tropical climate.

 

Periyar National Park

A national park and a wildlife sanctuary is the Periyar National Park which is located in Thekkady, Kerala. The park has rare and endangered flora and fauna and forms a watershed with two rivers, the Periyar and the Pamba. The best way to check out this national park is through a boat cruise. The best time to visit is during the period of December-March.
