Top 9 Golfers in the World

Dustin Johnson

The American born golfer is currently the world no.1 in the Official Golf World Ranking. He claimed the 1st position in the world rankings with his win at the 2017 Genesis Open in the month of February. Johnson is the first golfer to ever win the world golf championships grand slam, similar to the tennis grand slam titles.

 

Jordan Spieth

Chasing down Johnson is another American golfer, Jordan Spieth. Spieth is the former world number one of the Official Golf World Ranking. He has many major titles to his name and another achievement to his name is the 2015 FedEx Cup, which is a series of four golf tournaments which determines the season champion for the U.S. based PGA Tour.

 

Jon Rahm

The only non-American in the top 3 of the golf world ranking is the European, Jon Rahm. Only 23 years old, the Spanish golfer is also chasing Johnson along with Spieth. The young star was already the world number one golfer for record 60 weeks in the World Amateur Golf Ranking. The Spaniard has shown he’s at the forefront of golf’s youth revolution.

 

Justin Thomas

Also on the rise is another American golfer, Justin Thomas. Thomas, who plays in the PGA Tour is only 24 years old. Year 2017 is considered to be his breakout year, in which he won four PGA Tour events including the 2017 FedEx Cup championship.

 

Hideki Matsuyama

The only Asian golfer in the top 10 world golf ranking is Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama. Matsuyama, is an amateur champion with championship titles of the year 2010 and 2011. The young golfer is a five time PGA Tour winner and also has eight Japan Golf Tour titles to his name.

Justin Rose

Justin Peter Rose, born in Johannesburg, South Africa, the veteran golfer has the nationality of England. He plays majority of his golf on the PGA Tour and the European Tour. Rose doesn’t have many titles to his name but his consistent performance has kept the golfer at the 6th place in the Official World Golf Ranking.

 

Rickie Fowler

Another top notch American golfer is 29 years old, Rick Yutaka Fowler. Fowler was the world number one in the amateur golfer world ranking for 37 weeks in the years 2007 and 2008. He has to his name the U.S. Open (2014) 2nd position and also a similar position in the Open Championship of 2014.

 

Brooks Koepka

On the 8th rank in the Official Golf World Ranking is American professional golfer, Brooks Koepka. Koepka, unlike other amateur American golfer started his golfing career in the European region and not in America’s PGA Tour.

 

Henrik Stenson

Henrik Olof Stenson is another one of the few non-American golfers in the top 10 ranking of the world’s best golfers. The Swedish professional golfer plays both in the American PGA Tour as well as in the European Tour. Apart from many major titles to his name, the 41 year old is one of the best to come out of Sweden.
