Its capital is Baton Rouge and its largest city is New Orleans. The languages that are spoken there are English, French, Spanish, and Vietnamese. Louisiana has lots of NativeAmerican tribes residing there. Following are 7 places of interest in Louisiana.

The French Quarter

The French Quarter is the oldest section of New Orleans. It is known for its wrought iron balconies in the old building dating 300 years back. The district has a strong association with jazz music and one can find restaurants, cafes, stores and many other entertainment venues.

Mardi Gras

This is a colourful event that takes place in New Orleans. It consists of huge parades, balls, and street celebrations. It is the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday.

DeQuincy Railroad Museum

It is located in the Old Kansas City Southern depot which was built in 1923. It contains all kinds of railroad equipment and related memorabilia.

St. Martin Catholic Church

The Church was built in 1765 in St Martinville. On the left wing, it has the grave of Emmeline Labiche and a statue of Evangeline stands in the churchyard.

Rosedown Plantation and Gardens

Rosedown is known for being one of the most well preserved domestic plantations. It was created by the owners, Daniel and Martha in 1835. Many trees and plants reside here like camellias, azaleas, rare shrubs and trees.

USS Kidd and Veterans Memorial

It is a ship which was active during World War II and is located in Baton Rouge. It has been used in many films and TV series.
