ChandrasekharaVenkata Raman was born is 1888 in Tiruchirapalli. He has won the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1930 for scattering of light. He also worked on acoustics of musical instruments.

Homi J. Bhabha

S. Chandrashekar

He was born in 1894 in Calcutta. He was an Indian physicist who specialised in quantum mechanics. He is most remembered for his role in particles ‘bosons’.

He was born in 1893 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. He is best known for the thermal ionisation of elements and this led him to the formulation of Saha Equation.

Jagadish Chandra Bose

He was born in 1858 in Bikrampur, West Bengal. He was a polymath, physicist, biologist, botanist and archaeologist.

Vikram Sarabhai

He is considered as the father of India’s space programme. He was born in 1919 in Ahmedabad. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 1966 and the Padma Vubhushan after his death in 1972.
