]]> It is also known as the Royal Queensland Show and is the Queensland’s largest annual event. It is held for over 10 days and showcases the life and achievements in the Sunshine states. To celebrate Ekka, visitors gather from Queensland and Australia to the heart of Brisbane.

It showcases the best with animal competitions, award winning food and wines, live entertainment, carnival fun, family shopping, educational activities and much more.The whole show is full of events and unique activities where people are reminded of their childhood memories. It was originally known as the Brisbane exhibition. It is run by the Royal National Agricultural and Industrial Association of Queensland.

The annual event is held in August and about 4,00,000 people attend the event with 21,000 competition entries, 10,000 animals, award winning food and wines with hours of free family entertainment.It features a sideshow alley, showbag pavilion and lots of fireworks.

In 2018, Ekka will be celebrated from 10th to 19thof August. The first exhibition was held in 1876 which locals described as the most important event since the separation of Queensland from New South Wales in 1859.
