There are various national highways in India. Some of the important ones are NH1 and NH2 which together form the Grand Trunk Road, NH44 which is the longest national highway in India.

India’s longest national highway, National Highway 44, runs from north to south. Starting from Srinagar and ending on Kanyakumari, it is maintained by National Highway Public Development (NHPD). It crosses many states like Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, UP, Maharashtra, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and many more in between.

The highway connects many cities starting from Srinagar and ending at Kanyakumari. Some of the cities in between are Jammu, Jalandhar, Ambala, Panipat, Mathura, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Adilabad, Dichpally, Hyderabad, Mahbubnagar, Anantpur, Bangalore, Salem, Karur, Madurai, etc. One of the recent additions to the highway was the Chenani-Nashri Tunnel, inaugurated by Prime Minster, Mr. Narendra Modi.

There is a whole another side to this highway altogether. In a small village, Peddakunta, it is believed that there is some curse or a negative force that causes the most disastrous events. After a bypass was built years ago, there have been many hit and run cases in the village of Peddakunta.

Peddakunta has lost all the men of the village except one male adult who has lost his wife on the same highway. All the accidents have taken place around the same place where the bypass meets the village path and hence, they have become unavoidable.

The reason leading to the hit and run cases is the location of the village headquarters which is located on the other side. Any man who has tried to go to the other side is dead.

Therefore, National Highway 44 is one of the most significant highways in India and the longest one as well.

Bandhavgarh National Park

It is one the most popular national parks of India and is located in the Umaria district of Madhya Pradesh. After remaining a private game reserve of Baghela rulers, in 1968, Bandhavgarh was declared as a national park. It is world famous for its tiger reserve and is, therefore, a popular for tiger sighting. Safari is very famous here. Elephant rides here are a little famous as it is quite expensive. People prefer jeep safari more. There are three zones here where the safari is done— Tala zone, Magadhi zone and Khitauli zone.

Sunderbans National Park

A national park, a tiger reserve and also a biosphere reserve— Sunderbans is located in West Bengal. Covered with mangrove forest is this largest reserve for the Bengal tigers. It was declared as a Tiger Reserve in 1973, a Wildlife Sanctuary in 1977 and a National Park in 1984. The best time to visit Sunderbans is during December- February. It is a part of the world’s largest delta that is formed by Ganges, Brahmaputra and Meghna.

Kaziranga National Park

The world’s heritage site, Kaziranga National Park is home to the world’s great one-horned rhinoceros. It is also a tiger reserve but sighting them is quite difficult due to tall grasses. The park also has a large breeding variety of elephants, wild water buffalo and swamp deer. Kaziranga is located between two districts of Assam— the Kaliabor subdivision of Nagaon and Bokakhat subdivision of Golaghat. The best season to visit is during July-August.

Kanha National Park

Another tiger reserve and the largest national park in Madhya Pradesh is Kanha National Park. It has been ranked in the top 10 Famous Places for Tourists. The national park not only aimed to achieve the preservation of tigers but also the hardground Swamp Deer. The park has an attraction within, which is called the BamniDadar, also known as the sunset point. The best time to visit is during the tropical climate.

Periyar National Park

A national park and a wildlife sanctuary is the Periyar National Park which is located in Thekkady, Kerala. The park has rare and endangered flora and fauna and forms a watershed with two rivers, the Periyar and the Pamba. The best way to check out this national park is through a boat cruise. The best time to visit is during the period of December-March.
